June 2005 - Diary Notes.

Hi everyone,

For everyone who missed the May lecture with Ann Andrews you really did miss an excellent night and as most folk commented what a mind blowing and thought provoking evening, with a wow factor of 100%. We hope to have Ann back at some stage but most important we are trying to persuade her son Jason who the whole alien agenda surrounds. He does not speak to the media and rarely speaks in public so fingers crossed! We will try our utmost to get this amazing young man to meet you all.
On the night we have to apologise as we were very sorry for the folk who came late, we had to turn them away as there was simply no more room for anyone else to even stand. And they say the subject of UFOS is dead!!!

Triangle Ufo Sightings

We have two reports of Triangles being seen within a week of each other the first in Norton Stourbridge by 3 witnesses on April 28th around 9.45pm it was very low in the sky and was watched for over 5 minutes as it moved from Wollaston towards Norton before it was lost from view.
The 2nd sightings on May 13th again around 9.30pm.was also of a triangle with lights at each corner as it moved over the Wolverley area it stopped turned changed direction then turned again and headed towards Kidderminster. The object was followed by three people in a car as they tried to keep us with it before it turned on its self back towards Wolverley were it disappeared. This instigated our first skywatch.
Uform held the first public Skywatch on Hartlebury Common on Saturday May 28th although it was a cold night we were all in good spirits with anticipation. Peter supplied us with a barbecue with 2nd helpings of sausages and burgers with all the trimmings and a nice hot drink.
The cloud came in and unfortunately we were not able to see much but a good time was had by all and it gave us all time to chat and catch up with the things happening on the UFO scene. We did manage to take some good photos of Orbs etc which we will be available for you to see.

Future skywatches

If anyone has any suggestions for a suitable skywatch venue please let us know, but it does need to be in a location where the cars can be nearby.
Clent we will no longer be a venue for skywatches due to the continued vandalism on cars left at the bottom of the hill.
Rendlesham we have been asked if we are visiting Rendlesham as a group this year at the moment no plans as yet but possibly August/September may be on the cards.

June 2003 - George Victor "Ed" Bishop 1932 - 2005.

It is with great regret that we learnt of the passing of Ed Bishop, the actor known to millions of people as "Ed Straker" the commander of S.H.A.D.O. in the Gerry Anderson series UFO. It is a particularly sad time for UFORM as one of our members was one of the modelmakers for Gerry Anderson. Ed was born in Brooklyn on 11th June 1932 into a banking family. However when Ed graduated from High School he went on to teachers college before joining the army in 1952. He served with the Armed Forces Radio Service as a disc jockey and announcer in St Johns, Newfoundland which is where he had his first acting experience with an amateur theatrical company.

Ed left the army in 1954 and then in 1956 took a two year course in drama at Boston University graduating in 1959 with a BA in Fine Arts. He then won a United States Fullbright grant to continue his studies in London at LAMDA. His first television appearance was on April 14th 1961 when he starred in Granada Televisions drama "The Edge of Truth". A number of television roles followed and then in 1966 Ed landed the part of voicing Captain Blue in Gerry Andersons "Captain Scarlet and the Mysterons". He went on to star in every episode of Captain Scarlet and impressed the Andersons so much that in 1969 he landed the part of "Ed Straker " in UFO and again went on to star in every episode!

Ed, you were a wonderul man, a fine actor and you brought pleasure to millions upon millions of people, opening many eyes to the UFO enigma. We will miss you. God bless you. UFORM.

May 2004 - Lord Hill Norton Dies.

I'm sorry to have to report that Lord Hill-Norton died on Sunday 16th May 2004, aged 89. Admiral of the Fleet The Lord Hill-Norton G.C.B. was a former Chief of the Defence Staff and Chairman of the NATO Military Committee, who in his later years became greatly interested in the UFO phenomenon.

His long and distinguished naval career included active service on Arctic convoy duty during the Second World War, command of a destroyer during the Suez Crisis, and a later posting in command of the aircraft carrier HMS Ark Royal.

His interest in UFOs came after his retirement, and he wrote forewords to a number of Timothy Good's books, including Above Top Secret and Unearthly Disclosure. He was particularly interested in the Rendlesham Forest incident, and worked with Georgina Bruni on this. He asked her to draft some questions which he subsequently tabled in Parliament, trying to elicit an official response to what he felt were a number of important defence and national security issues raised by the events.

I briefed him on several occasions, which could be quite challenging. Many staff officers and journalists found him difficult, especially if they didn't quickly get to the point. He was passionate about the Royal Navy, UFOs and a wide range of other subjects. When I called on him last summer, on my way back from a holiday, I found him as lively as ever.
He had taken an interest in a UFO sighting involving military witnesses on HMS Manchester and had asked me to update
him. He told me that despite the frustrations, he intended to remain involved in ufology for as long as he was able.

Lord Hill-Norton appeared in several UFO documentaries and was frequently quoted on the subject in the media. Again, he
could be quite outspoken and was often highly critical of the Ministry of Defence's policy on the UFO phenomenon. Those
list members in the UK will be able to see what I believe was his last TV interview on UFOs next Wednesday evening, on
Channel Five's new documentary, The British UFO Files.

Lord Hill-Norton was a great friend to ufology, where the active support of someone of his rank was without precedent. He
will be sadly missed.

Nick Pope

March 2003 - UFORM plays host to Nick Pope

It took months of secret negotiations but finally we managed to persuade Nick Pope to come for a visit. The local papers came too. Our eternal thanks to Peter Rhodes of the Express & Star for the massive 3/4 page article he did for us. He tried, oh how he tried, but then he gave way to his baser journalistic instincts and just had to slip in the "Little Green Men" comment. Journalists, ever predictable, don't you just love 'em! October 2003 - UFORM pays its respects to Graham Birdsall.

It is with great sadness that we have to report the death of GRAHAM BIRDSALL on 19TH September 2003. At the last UFORM meeting a book of condolences was signed by members and was taken to Graham's wife. A total of 8 members from UFORM travelled to Leeds to pay their respect and attended the funeral and celebration of his life: together with many Ufologists from all over the world.
Graham visited UFORM many times and will be sadly missed by US and the whole UFO community, his knowledge is irreplaceable. The continuation of UFO Magazine at the moment is in the balance as they seek a new editor, the magazine is a family run business and GRAHAM BIRDSALL will be a hard act to follow!

SEPTEMBER 2003 - UFORM Breaks story in UFO Magazine!

23/07/03 - BBC Cameraman sparks new speculation on the "Himley Triangle".

"A BBC cameraman spotted three bright lights in the sky over the Malverns near the village of Hanbury on Tuesday and filmed them with a video camera. Some thought it could have been flares. But cameraman Tom Hines, who works on the BBC drama series Doctors, said he is convinced it was a UFO. " BBC Online 22nd July 2003.

Following the article UFORM contacted the BBC to request further details. Members will be aware of the ongoing investigation into the sightings in the Himley Triangle following the second sighting of a star-like object with a tail in the vicintiy of the Dudley earthquake. The BBC News footage taken by Tom Hines on 22nd July occurred right in the middle of the period we had predicted and although possibly a coincidence, needs further investigation. UFORM have seen an unprecendented increase in the number of sightings in the period 10th - 23rd July and are continuing our investigations. Can we appeal to all members to be particularly vigilant this week as we have received a couple of interesting videos and at least eight different sightings this week alone.

17/07/03 - Reports of UFO's Flood Into UFORM.

20/06/03 - UFORM Member David Rose Starts Earthquake Theory.

Press Release

20/06/2003

Could UFO herald a second quake?

Local Wombourne resident, David Rose, contacted UFO Research Midlands in Stourbridge when he photographed a strange object in the sky near Wombourne in the West Midlands. What started as a wildlife photography trip, has started a major UFO flap. David explained… "Last July I noticed a very bright star in the clear blue sky. It also had a very thin tail, which was swaying from side to side." As a result of this experience David has kept his camera with him whenever he is out and about and this diligence now appears to have paid off. On 16th of March, he was on the Kingswinford Railway walk near the Tea Rooms photographing a pair of buzzards, however when the photograph was developed there was a large rod-like object clearly visible in the foreground of the picture. The negative was examined by photographic experts called in by UFORM who indicated that it did not appear to be flaw in the negative and that the object was definitely photographed. What makes this case really strange is the sequence of events that then ensued… Peter Kimberley, IT Director of UFORM commented. "We were aware of David's sightings and we carefully plotted their times and positions. What amazed us was when a local ranger contacted us with an almost identical sighting. Where the tracks of the two sightings crossed appears to be exactly over the epicentre of the Dudley earthquake on 23rd September last year. David's first sighting occurred exactly two months before the earthquake and his second sighting occurred almost exactly two months before the rangers sighting which occurred around 20th of May. We are watching intently to see if anything happens around 20th to 23rd of July!

UFORM are appealing for any other witnesses who may have had sightings and are particularly interested in sightings from the Kingswinford, Brierley Hill and Netherton Areas. UFORM's contact numbers are on their website at www.uform.org.

Ends.

Notes:

The original negative is available together with a high resolution photograph of David Rose at the location of the sighting.

02/02/03 - UFO Watchers Can Aid National Security.

Graham Birdsall, editor of UFO Magazine, which is produced at Stourton, Leeds, said: "We have information that many police forces are now told to take all UFO sightings seriously.  "Since the demise of the Royal Observer Corps, the UFO people who watch the skies are the eyes and ears of the nation and can alert the authorities to anything suspicious. This is particularly important at a time of heightened security."

A spokesman for North Yorkshire Police said: "If someone reports an incident which could impinge on public safety then we take it seriously. If something looks worrying, it is our job to do something about it." Sky watches have been planned at Filey, Whitby and Scarborough. Anyone interested can phone 07901 597743.

30/01/03 - Police Investigate Filey Saucers.

Police are quizzing UFO hunters over several incidents of lights in the sky off the east coast. Full-time researcher Russell Kellett has been interviewed by officers after a strange incident near Filey Brigg. And he claims fellow UFO enthusiasts have also been quizzed by officers. "It is all very strange," said Mr Kellett at his Filey home. "Two officers
interviewed me after I reported an experience I had at Filey Brigg last summer. "I was looking out to sea when I suddenly saw five saucer-shaped objects flying in a row. I turned away to get my camera and the objects were gone, but then I heard a bang and saw a flash and an RAF plane came flying over the area. "I phoned RAF Leeming about it and they sent the police officers round to interview me. They told me I had seen and heard a heat-seeking flare. "But they are usually fired to ward off incoming missiles. And this was over a built-up area."

21/01/03 - UFO Hovers Over Gloucestershire.

Residents living in the Forest of Dean, near Gloucester, UK, reported a strange hovering light  above  Harrow Hill, near Cinderford, during the early hours of Tuesday,” January 21, 2003.

Steven Taylor, 39, one of the residents who saw the light at 12:30 a.m., described the light as "very brilliant.’”
“’It was like the light of an airplane, but nothing like a helicopter, and it had no sound. I have no idea what it was, and I couldn’t hope to describe it. It was strange!’ said Elizabeth Fletcher, 64,” another local eyewitness.
“She added, ‘It was a very strange pulsating light.’”
“’I thought that something had entered my house, or that it was the police helicopter,’ Robin Cole said, adding that” the UFO “looked like ‘two brilliant planets that could be seen at the present moment.’”

03/01/2003 - Joe McGonagle launches Campaign for UK National UFO Authority

Joe McGonagle a UFO investigator well known to UFORM members, has launched a campaign for a National UFO Authority here in the UK.

He says: "I am determined to raise the standards of British Ufology. To this end, I have created the "British Federation of Ufologists" smartgroup. This is only a group intended to steer towards the creation of a national standards authority, _not_ the authority itself. The aim of the group initially is to set an agenda for a summit meeting of all interested parties at a date to be decided, to anticipate the pitfalls, requirements, scope, and viability of such an authority, and to stimulate interest in a national authority. In short, to get the ball rolling. The steering group is open to anyone based in the UK with an interest, either positive or negative, in the creation of such an authority. Overseas members are welcome to join as observers, but are respectfully requested not to play an active part in the proceedings. If you feel strongly that we either do or don't need such an establishment, I urge you to take part in the steering group to ensure that your views are taken into consideration. "

8/11/02 - Marcus Allen makes prime time BBC News.

At 6:15pm on Friday evening (8/11/02) Marcus Allen appeared on prime time BBC News where he aired the widely held theory that the Americans hoaxed the moon landings. The evidence against the yanks was pretty damning and the only thing that was held up in support of the validity of the landings was a piece of moon rock, said to have been brought back by the Apollo astronauts. The BBC claimed that the rock had been validated by "Scientists Around The World" who confirmed that it was the same as the rock brought back by an unmanned Russian probe. No one was there to ask the questions. "Who validated the unmanned Russian visit to the moon?" and "How do we know the rock was not knocked off the moon by an asteroid and pulled here by the earths gravity?" Given that a third of a ton of cosmic matter falls to earth every single day of our lives, is it easy to see how such a sample of moon rock may have been obtained. Marcus was appearing in response to the shock news that NASA have pulled a book which debunked the conspiracy theory and have declined to comment  on why they did it. 23/09/2003 - Earthquake Hits Dudley.

The following is an extract from the BBC News Online article on September 23rd 2002:-

Large parts of England and Wales have been hit by an earthquake measuring 4.8 on the Richter scale. Buildings shook for up to 30 seconds in parts of the West Midlands, Wales, North Yorkshire, London, and Wiltshire The tremor began at approximately 0054 BST and its epicentre was around Wolverhampton and Dudley in the West Midlands.
There was minor structural damage but no reports of any injuries. The earthquake was the UK's largest for ten years

Glenn Ford, a senior seismologist at the British Geological Survey (BGS), said: "It's an extremely large earthquake in UK terms but not large in world terms, we'd only classify it as a light earthquake."

BBC weather forecaster Pete Gibbs said: "It's not that unusual to have an earth tremor, but it is unusual to be that widespread and that widely reported. "However, earth tremors are certainly not that uncommon in the UK."

West Midlands Police said they had 5,000 calls to their switchboard within an hour of the tremor happening and 600 calls to the 999 number.

Dudley police said 12 people in nightclothes walked into their local police station.

Julian Bukits, of the British Geological Survey, said an earthquake of magnitude four is equivalent to 1,000 tonnes of TNT - that in turn is equivalent to the power of a small nuclear weapon...

12/09/2002 - Bonsall UFO could be a Massive Hoax.

Analysis at UFORM has confirmed that the famous Bonsall footage may have been a hoax. Researchers at UFORM noticed a similar effect to the one captured on the Bonsall UFO, when videoing an normal light at extreme range with a digital camera set on full zoom. The image shows exactly the same pink disc-like object as seen on the Bonsall footage.

UFORM's video expert added, this type of faceting and distortion is typical of cameras shooting at extreme zoom ranges. It looks like this is just a case of mistaken identity.

So, once again, it seems like the press is hyping it up, just to keep readers interests. It really is difficult to sort fact from fiction, when profit is a motive.

12/09/2002 - DC Gary Heseltine to appear at LEEDS.

He will be giving a short presentation regarding the database on Friday 20th September at approximately 2130 hours. Chip's With Everyone!

Americans Injected With VeriChip .

Eight people in the United States have volunteered, to be injected with an a sinister new microchip. The VeriChip which is manufactured by Applied Solutions and Digital Angel (Should That Be Digital Demon?)  has been inserted under people's skin. It contains unique information about the wearer. The system is already being advertised on some American cable channels - with the medical benefits being hyped as the major reason to get one. The eight injectees, include a family group are all sufferers of various ailments and have been persuaded that the chip will provide vital information if one of them is is taken ill near a centre which has VeriChip scanning equipment. Another of the group suffers from Alzheimer's. For the privilege of being the first human beings to resurrect the spectre of the Nazi's control and branding of the Jew's , these people will be made to pay $200 plus $10 a month for data storage. When  Simon Treselyan sat there and warned us all that we were all in danger of bar-coding and state control, we knew that he was probably right. It is now coming horribly true. God help us all.

Witnessed - By Budd Hopkins.

Publisher: Bloomsbury, 38 Soho Square London W1V 5DF

ISBN 0 7475 3322 9

What can I say. Since I picked this book up, I have been unable to put it down. I'm reading it in the Bath, on the Loo and in Bed. Even the wife is getting impatient now that the headache has worn off!

The book is about the Brooklyn Bridge incident on November 30th 1989 when a young married mother called Linda Cortile was abducted from her apartment by three alien grays. What really sets this incident apart was that it was witnessed not only by two police agents but by a major international diplomat who confirmed the incident took place via third parties. The degeneration in the mental state of one of the agents was to put Linda's life in grave danger on several occasions and threatened to blow the lid off one of the most amazing and widely witnessed UFO incident's of all time.

The incident had a profound effect on all of the witnesses and has been researched meticulously by Budd Hopkins the renowned Abduction Researcher and Regression specialist. Forget Stephen King, this book really will having you looking over your shoulder!

I cannot recommend this book highly enough. Rating *****

The Encyclopedia Of Alien Encounters - By Alan Baker

Publisher - Virgin Publishing Ltd

ISBN 0 7535 0480 4

An excellent book for the UFO Researcher. Every major UFO incident in the world is covered in an A to Z format which also details many supporting facts such as people involved and and key figures in the UFO world. Excellent for a quick reference when you want to establish timelines and locations. Sadly the book does not cover some of the more obscure local incidents such as the Cannock Chase crash and the Cosford Landing.

Saucer - By Steven Coonts.

Publisher Orion Books

ISBN 0 75285 202 7

Touted by the American press as a "master of the all-action thriller", we found this novel about a young seismic surveyor who finds a UFO and learns to fly it a bit lightweight. The kid finds a saucer and with the help of an older woman, he masters how to fly it and has many jolly japes at the authorities expense before falling in love with the older woman. It is written in a childish style and we reckon a lot of 14 year olds could come up with something better. Vaguely reminiscent of Moorcocks writings but not even as mature as those.

Rating: Don't Bother.
